Mobilising towards NDC’s July convention

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is continuing its build up  to its 2010 convention, which will coincide with the second anniversary of the party's general election victory.

NDC Treasurer Glynis Roberts, MP for St. George South, hosted a fun day at Woburn on Sunday, May 30, primarily targeting party members and supporters.

"It was an occasion for family and friends to socialise,'' said MP Roberts, who is also Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation in the government of Hon. Tillman Thomas, Prime Minister and Leader of the NDC.

Sunday's event included the sale of food and drinks, as well games of cards, dominoes, cricket and football.

"We had real fun. I truly enjoyed the afternoon,'' said Mrs. Roberts, who tried her hands at the All Fours' card game.

The South St. George branch of the NDC was supported by representatives from other constituencies across the country, including Town of St. George MP, Foreign Minister Peter David.

Mrs. Roberts said other events are planned by the NDC as part of the party's mobilisation leading to its annual convention on July 11 at the St. Andrew's Anglican Secondary School. They include a visit to Carriacou by NDC executive members and the staging of a gospel concert in St. Patrick.

"With all of that, we will go into the convention, and our second anniversary in government, on a real high. We have a few more weeks and we have a series of things planned,'' MP Roberts said.

The NDC assumed office on July 8, 2008, after winning an 11 – 4 general election victory.
