St. George's, November 4, 2010 (GIS) – Government spokesman, Richard Simon, says the Parliamentary Opposition should just stick to the facts and stop trying to bamboozle Grenadians.
Mr. Simon made the comment Thursday in response to a release from the NNP in which Opposition Leader, Dr. Keith Mitchell, said that government members and others should apologize to former Energy Minister Gregory Bowen over the lawsuit that was filed against him by American businessman, Jack Grynsberg.
The Bowen-Grynsberg case was settled in a U.S. court in what the NNP claims was a victory for the former Energy Minister, suggesting that Mr. Bowen should be considered a national hero.
"The fact is that Mr. Mitchell, Mr. Bowen and members of the NNP engaged in many questionable dealings that came back to haunt them,'' said Mr. Simon. "This is not information made up by any politician,
lawyer or media person.''
Mr. Simon, Press Secretary to Prime Minister Tillman Thomas, said the NDC Government's position has been that it will not spend taxpayers' money on a private legal matter between Mr. Bowen and Mr. Grynsberg.
"If anybody is to issue an apology, it would have to be members of the NNP for dragging Grenada's name through the mud on so many occasions over 13 years, and tarnishing the nation's image,'' said Mr. Simon.
