Windwards Stage Fight Back against CCC


Bridgetown, Barbados, February 5 â€" Combined Campuses & Colleges (CCC) were 216 for nine in their second innings â€" an overall lead of 173 â€" at the close of play on the second day of their first round regional Headley/Weekes first-class match against the Windward Islands at the 3Ws Oval here today.

The not out batsmen were Kevin McClean on nought and Kavesh Kantasingh, one.

Captain Omar Phillips was leg before wicket by left-arm pacer Kenroy Peters for seven (7-1; 1.2 overs); fellow left-hander Kjorn Ottley was caught at short cover by Keron Cottoy off off-spinner Liam Sebastien for 28 (73-2; 19.4 overs); Romel Currency was leg before wicket by fast bowler Mervin Matthew for 35 (100-3; 31.1 overs); Kyle Corbin was leg before wicket by fast bowler Nelon Pascal for 57 (180-4; 50.2 overs); Floyd Reifer was also leg before wicket by Pascal for three (187-5; 54.1 overs); Nkrumah Bonner was leg before wicket by Sebastien for 19 (213-6; 67.1 overs); debutant Raymon Reifer was leg before wicket by left-arm spinner Garey Mathurin for 44 (215-7; 70.2 overs); Ryan Austin was caught at slip by Johnson Charles off Mathurin without scoring and Gilford Moore was snapped up at silly point by Tyrone Theophile off Mathurin, also for a ‘duck’ off Mathurin.

Mathurin has three for 27 off 14 overs, Sebastien, two for 43 off 22 overs and Pascal, two for 64 off 14 overs.

Earlier, the Windward Islands, starting the day on 145 for seven, were bowled out for 174 in reply to the first innings total of 131 all out â€" 48 minutes after the start of play.

The batsmen dismissed today were Mervin Matthew (nought), Keron Cottoy (seven) and Nelon Pascal (nought), leaving Peters unbeaten on 13.

Keddy Lesporis topscored with 41 in 67 minutes off 47 balls, hitting three fours and two sixes,

Off-spinner Ryan Austin, one of six Barbadians in the CCC side, took four for 42. Leg-spinner Bonner picked up two for 14 and left-arm spinner Kavesh Kantasingh, two for 49.
